Few things fascinate the masses, including people from all walks of life, quite like the royal family. Given their place as global icons in the public spotlight, maintaining an active lifestyle presents the members of this internationally renowned family a special opportunity to potentially inspire millions of more ordinary individuals to establish regular exercise habits.

One of the most beloved and recent additions to the family is the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, who grew up in America and last year married Prince Harry (formally known as Henry of Wales). Markle guest-edited an issue of British Vogue last month in which she revealed her favorite workout. Wendy Michaels expounded on the the news in a recent article from The Cheat Sheet, writing:

Meghan Markle has revealed her favorite workout and it might surprise some fans. It’s yoga, but oh so much more. It’s called Ritual exercise class and it combines different exercise styles, described as “transforming, challenging and enlightening.”

Markle stays in shape with a combination exercise class

Among the many things about Markle that her fans are curious about is her fitness routine. While yoga has been her go-to exercise, she revealed in her guest-edited issue of British Vogue magazine that her favorite class is a mash-up that includes “elements of yoga, Pilates, and barre.”

The Ritual class is offered at London-based Heartcore and combines cardio with toning in a “high-energy, cardio-based mat workout” format.

Markle noted in her guest editor’s letter that the issue’s beauty section “puts its energy towards internal beauty, celebrating the power of breathing and meditation, and [includes] a favourite workout that urges you to use your heart as much as your core.”

What is the Ritual exercise class?

The Heartcore classes offered include Ritual, with the site describing: “Stretch your limits and open yourself up to change with our unique remix of Pilates, Yoga and Cardio. Energetic and invigorating, our classes are designed to strengthen, lengthen and tone you from the inside out. Through a continuous flow of movements, sequenced to improve your flexibility and core strength, we revitalise key postural muscles and bring a strong, powerful focus to your whole and balanced body.”

Markle is yet another A-list celebrity eager to prioritize staying flexible, which was not always a high priority within the fitness scene in decades past.
